Sustainability

At Ink & Paper, ensuring I run a sustainable and environmentally-friendly business is of utmost importance to me.

90% of the cardstock I use comes from recycled sources; where I don’t use recycled paper, I make sure it comes with FSC accreditation. The FSC system allows businesses and consumers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources. Pillowy letterpress cardstock is usually 100% cotton and is a by-product of the textile production process: no trees.

When it comes to letterpress inks, these are vegetable-based and vegan.

Even the foil I use is fully recycable: once transferred, it is so thin that it dissipates within the re-pulping process. My supplier, Foilco, are the first company to be certified as ZeroFoil2Landfill compliant. Foilco also work alongside printers to recover their foil waste, which is converted into SRF – a higher quality and more environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels.

And when I send out my commissions, I try to re-use packaging as much as possible – it’s what’s inside that counts after all.
